Almost every article in Wikipedia could do with some expansion. This page is for listing those for which there is a specific request. It is an excellent venue to publicize important articles which are embarrassingly short or insufficient for an encyclopedia of the stature to which Wikipedia aspires.

Articles to list here:

  • Stubs - Articles that are very short. These should be tagged with {{stub}}, or a topic-specific stub tag.
  • Longer articles that still need expansion. Be sure to tag these {{expand}} when you nominate them.
  • Sections in particular need of expansion within an article may be tagged with {{expandsection}} or {{Sectstub}}.

Articles not to list here:

Contents

[edit] How to add a new listing

Please list entries chronologically (newest at top) and add {{expand}} to the talk page, with a note about what needs to be expanded. On this page, be sure to sign your post with ~~~~ so the date will be included. Please also bold the title of the article you are adding, to make the list easier to read.

Instead of using {{expand}}, you may instead choose to add an item to an article's todo list, located on the talk page. Add the {{todo}} template to the top of the article's talk page, and then fill out the /todo subpage explaining what needs to be added.

[edit] Cleanup needed

This page has a backlog that requires the attention of experienced Wikipedia editors.
Please remove this notice when the backlog is cleared.

Please help remove listings which have already been expanded. To determine this, you can check the article's history tab. Compare the length of the article from when the request was posted here to its current length. If there was a request for expansion of a particular point, see if this was done.

Articles that have been expanded should have the {{expand}} tag removed from the talk or article page.

In order to prevent this page from getting too long, requests older than six months should be removed from this page entirely. When doing so, please move the comment accompanying the request from this page to the article's talk page, and make sure it is tagged {{expand}}. This ensures that the article will continue to be featured on the opentask list and Category:Articles to be expanded until it is eventually expanded.

[edit] More listings

Many articles tagged {{expand}} are listed in Category:Articles to be expanded but not on this page.

[edit] 2006

Please place new requests at the top of the appropriate list and make the article link bold.

[edit] December

  • Suffering - Your own special concern with this subject could help in developing one section or the other within the new 'comprehensive' structure of the article. Robert Daoust 16:54, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Jamestown Settlement - article is very short for such an important part of American history Betaeleven 15:37, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Friedrich Engels - Page seems rather short considering the political importance of this man. Needs more on his life Francium12 16:31, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Thameslink Programme needs to be expanded within some of its sections. As it is, the article is not bad on the whole, but it needs more information in some parts before it meets the good article criteria.
  • Video camera was in a truly sorry state when I stumbled upon it today, being a mere disambiguation page for a rather complex subject. I've expanded it up to what I would consider a reasonable stub level, but there really is quite a lot to say on the subject that doesn't fit into the pages it points to. Haikupoet 06:42, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

  • SHeDAISY is a hardly ever recognized for their deserving work, and is largely ignored by the Wikipedia Community. If they can't be recognized by the CMA's, they should be recognized here. This is so future girlfriends, when searching to get to know the guy a little better, they may find whether he has cheated or not. [edit] January

  • Aniconism - currently minimal information. As seen from the debate over at Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons, a great deal of illuminating material could be written about the subject, especially on the gulf between the West's freedom of speech and Islam's consideration that a drawing of Mohammed is blasphemous and insulting to all Muslims. The two sides seem to be astounded the other side doesn't see things the same way, as far as I can tell. This would be a good page to expand greatly on this interesting (and currently topical) topic. There's currently also no section on the "graven images" prohibition as it has been seen by Jews and Christians over the centuries. Tempshill 17:50, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
  • List of American Idol contestants - useless as written. It's basically a list of random names. It needs to be expanded with a brief description of each contestant, which season they were on, how far they made it, etc. -- MisterHand 18:00, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

  • List of songs performed on American Idol for this to be even remotely useful, it needs to tell us which contestants sang which songs. As of right now, it's just a list of songs. -- MisterHand 17:53, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
  • Samuel Phelps and John Liston. Both are ambigious to other people from the same period; I've placed what little I know of them as notes in the respective talk pages, but I don't think it's enough for me to split the articles correctly up. --Smári McCarthy 13:38, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

His only claim-to-fame that I know of is being drafted #1 - ahead of HOF'er Reggie Jackson - and then never even making the Majors. Never making the Majors equates to non-notable in my mind but hopefully someone can find more on him. —Wknight94 (talk) 14:16, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Constitutional democracy is a huge politcal system in the Modern world. Giving it merely a stub without even mention of countries that are part of this type of government does not give it the weight it needs, for a type of government that is important in modern times, especially when many other government types have much larger articles. • Military: Linked to many, many times, and it's a rather important concept, but the article is somewhat anemic. If someone could simply cut-n-paste in material from other pages (military science, military service, etc.) and organize it, at least that would be something. (Many military-related concepts, such as theater (military) and military geography are mostly substubs though.) I've done a little of that, but I'm really not too interested in the topic, being a Quaker. Some military enthusiast want to help? – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) June 30, 2005 18:48 (UTC)

From what I am briefly reading at the IMDB website is that the only thing different is the location of the storyline. So whoever expands the 9 queens film probably should make a disambiguation page over at Criminal since it is also a movie title. Thanks! --x1987x 01:24, Jun 25, 2005 (UTC)

Someone already put a link to a babelfish translation so you don't even have to speak spanish to help.
