[edit] Raphael1 (talk contribs), Raphael101 (talk contribs), ScottRR (talk contribs), and Wikipidian (talk contribs)

It appears that User:Raphael1 may be utilizing sockpuppets to avoid a 48hour block to edit on the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) to disruptively and repetitively remove the cartoons themselves. The first two are obvious with such similar user names. The third is suspected due to similarly timed and similar editing and editorial commentary as is the fourth's concurrently timed, repetitive and similarly natured edits. Additionally for the same reasons as specified above it appears that User:Raphael1 has utilized the shared IP 147.188.128.117 (talk contribs) to further evade his 3RR block. Netscott 01:52, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Raphael1 appears to have been blocked sometime after 19:25, 23 April 2006. I had 2 article edits (reverted) before this slot and 3 afterwards (2/3 reverted, then one got partially restored) - unless you're proposing a ridiculous assertion of foreknowledge of the block I don't see how I am the same person as raphael1. I personally don't think Raphael1 is sockpuppeting (who coined that term anyways?), he has been involved in the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy article for some time and hasn't in this period (to my knowledge) resorted to such measures. Here are the results:

  • There is no connection between Raphael1 and Raphael101; from what I can tell, the latter is merely an imitator of the former. (They are coming in from two different continents.)
  • The IP address mentioned has not been used by any of the users listed.
  • Wikipedian is not connected to the situation at all.
  • Raphael101 is the same person as ScottRR; both seem to be imitators of Raphael1.

I am continuing to investigate the situation. Essjay TalkContact 06:00, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
