[edit] Sango123

Final (37/1/0) ending 18:55 July 26, 2005 (UTC)

I have been editing at Wikipedia since March 2005, and I just reached my 3000th edit milestone. I contribute here quite often— from welcoming and assisting newcomers to monitoring Special:Newpages for speedy deletion candidates. I believe I am ready for adminship, as I have a good grip on Wikipedia policies, and I am more than willing to help in tidying and maintaining Wikipedia to the best of my abilities. More information can be found in my answers to the candidate questions. Thanks, Sango123 18:55, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: Self-nom. I accept.

Note: When voting do not refer to this editor as "he". Thank you, Redwolf24 23:55, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

  1. Support. I'll be the first to stick my name here; I've run across Sango123 on welcome detail and I think the work speaks for itself. -- EssjayTalk 19:15, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

  4. Support — Sango123 is not only a great artist (both in Barnstars and WP:MIND), but also a great Wikipedian who would make a great admin. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 19:30, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  5. Definite support. I've noticed Sango's name all over the place this week - including cleaning up my mistakes... Shimgray 19:40, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  6. Support. Since I'm a somewhat new user (used and occasionally edited wikipedia when I was anonymous), I needed (and still do need) help. Sango gave me that help. Link 19:53, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  7. Support. He She handled the Devadasi situation very well, appears to be a friendly, civil editor, has sufficient experience, and edits significantly across several namespaces. Plus, that prism picture he she added as a logo for WP:MIND was so good, I had to vote for it even though I didn't know that page even existed! --Idont Havaname 20:03, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
    Thank you! And I'm a she by the way. :) Sango123 20:54, July 19, 2005 (UTC)
Sorry for my mistake then. Thanks for correcting me. Fixed now. :-) --Idont Havaname 23:16, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  8. Support. Absolutely. Sango has shown familiarity with Wikipedia procedures, and puts in a lot of work for image-related projects (especially Barnstars). --Deathphoenix 20:41, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  9. Support. Very welcoming, very helpful, seems to have a lot of presence around the site and I'm sure she'll use her admin powers to great positive effect. Keep up the good work! Javacava 21:19, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  10. This user has been contributing for only three and a half months. But when I looked through her talk page, I saw that this user treats newcomers to Wikipedia with profound respect, and she appears to have amassed quite a bit of trust from the community. She also appears to enjoy improving other users' talk pages. So I will abandon my nine-month threshold for this vote, and support this user's application for adminship.  Denelson83  21:38, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  11. What the... Denelson voted for you despite that I do all those things (mild jealousy :P) Anyways, this user is amazingly courteous and I don't understand why she's self nominating I mean I'm sure many people would've nominated her. Ah well, this user is funny, nice, and all around a great person. Sincerely, Redwolf24 21:44, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
Seems while I was casting my vote on your RFA, Redwolf24, I was just not "seeing the forest for the trees," so to say.  Denelson83  23:13, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  12. Whole-hearted support There is nothing that I have found with Sango that I do not like. A great editor, and Wikipedia will benefit with a mop in her hands. Bratschetalk 5 pillars 22:28, July 19, 2005 (UTC)
  13. I hear nothing but good things about Sango. She is very great when drawing images for the Barnstars and she has been a welcome addition to the WP:BAP since she first started drawing for us. Unconditional support. Zscout370 (Sound Off) 23:20, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  14. Support. Sango123 is willing, capable, eager, helpful, knowledgeable, courteous, personable, assertive, and excited about this ongoing project. If Sango123 wants to volunteer, I am confident this community will benefit from Sango123's efforts. ZachsMind 00:03, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
  15. Sure. 3000 or so edits since March, and I haven't heard anyone complain about Sango123—so she can probably be given the mop and shotgun. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 00:53, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

  18. Support. Kama I was a newbie who wandered into a revert war and some very nasty personal attacks at devadasi and had no idea what to do and Sanjo123 guided me through the whole thing and without her help I think I would have just left in tears. It was so nice to be treated in such a non-prejudicial and transparent way.

  20. Support! Sango123 welcomed me within seconds of my first edit, giving me information that helped me clear some of the initial difficult hurdles associated with joining this vast community. My only regret is that I did not nominate her to this post. Sophrosune (talk) 00:02, 21 July 2005 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. I already monitor Special:Newpages and Special:Shortpages, so I plan to help with speedy deletion, which would be far more efficient than tagging obvious candidates for another to take care of. I would also like to become more involved with vandalism-fighting, since before, I could do nothing other than to alert an admin. Before issuing warnings and blocking anyone, however, I will make sure I completely understand Wikipedia:Blocking policy; I also plan to check Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism regularly.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I am very pleased with my work in welcoming new Wikipedians— several hundred as of today— as an active member of the Welcoming Committee and Kindness Campaign. Also, I participate in discussions at Wikipedia:Barnstar and award proposals, where two of my designs have been accepted as official Barnstars. As for articles, I find Wikipedia:Deadend pages and, more often, the random article link ready to lend a hand in finding needy pages.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I have never experienced a great deal stress or been in any significant conflicts, but one thing comes to mind. An editor I had welcomed was experiencing personal attacks at Talk:Devadasi, and her edits to the Devadasi article were consistently being reverted. I believe I dealt with it in a very calm manner (see User talk:Kama) when she reported her situation on my talk page, and thankfully, the issue was resolved by a rewrite (see this message). If I ever experience a stressful altercation, however, I plan to adhere faithfully to Wikipedia:Civility. Finally, concerning conflicts or disputes, my talk page is always open to questions and requests, and it will remain that way in the future. Sango123 18:56, July 19, 2005 (UTC)
