Reorx, also known as Lord of Earth and The Forge, is a fictional deity in the fictional Dragonlance world. Reorx was the god who captured Chaos, the father of the gods, in the Greygem of Gargath.
While humans tend to portray Reorx rather unflatteringly, as nothing but a paunchy squire of Kiri-Jolith, dwarves and gnomes hold him to be the highest of the gods. This is perhaps due to the role that Reorx, and the Greygem, played in the creation of those races (along with the kender).
Reorx is the god of creation and technology, another quality that endears him to both dwarves and gnomes. Unlike the constellations of the other gods, Reorx appears in the sky as a single red star, said to be the light of his forge.
The fact that most of his followers are dwarves means that the church of Reorx is known for its stability. The dwarves have a passion for hierarchical organizations, and the church is no exception. Clerics of Reorx have an important role in dwarven public life. The church doesn't have as much influence in gnomish life, but the priesthood works with that of Sirrion to produce the metal required for gnomish invention.
Reorx often works with Shinare, goddess of industry and commerce, to help drive dwarven economies. He also grants inspiration to gnomes to help them on their life quests of developing wondrous machines. He is also fond of the kender, although he generally doesn't directly intervene in their lives.
Reorx will usually appear to mortals as a Dwarf in gaudy clothing who loves good mead and games of chance. He may even bet things that belong to his friends on a "sure hand".
Reorx was involved in the short story "Wanna Bet?" in which he, along with Palin Majere, Sturm Majere, and Tanin Majere acquire the Graygem from Lord Gargath. His next appearance is in Dragons of Summer Flame, wherein he helps Usha Majere and her companions in the driving off of Chaos.
Though not named outright, it can be insinuated that Reorx, dressed in his typical eccentric clothing, visited Flint in Dragons of the Dwarven Depths. It was in this novel, that Reorx gives Flint the chance to find the Hammer of Kharas. Flint, though suspicious of the dwarf, reluctantly agrees to take his advice.
