Rentech

Rentech (AMEX: RTK) is a United States company engaged in development and commercialization of a Coal to liquids and Gas to liquids (GTL) processes for the production of to synthetic oil by the Fisher-Tropsch process. Rentech's process involves using a molten wax slurry reactor with an iron catalyst. [1]

In 2000, the company acquired a 100,000 ton per year methanol plant in Sand Creek, Colorado for conversion into a GTL facility producing 800 to 1000 bbl/day of diesel fuel and other hydrocarbon products. [2]

In 2006, the company entered an agreement with Peabody Energy, the largest producer of coal in the US, to develop several joint coal-to-liquids projects. [3]
