Talk:Reman

It should be noted that Romulus and Remus were the mythical founders of ancient Rome. See this Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romulus_and_Remus
[edit] Remus
The Romulan Empire is based on ancient Rome. Romulus and Remus are an homage to the legend of it's founding. The following paragraph is completely wrong:
"One theory states that Remus is an English translation of the planet's real name, Romii, because in the original Star Trek episode, "Balance of Terror", the starmap of the Romulan system listed the planets as Romulus and Romii while the latter was apparently spoken of as Remus. Therefore, the race's true name would be the Romiians. Other possibilities are that the name of the second Romulan planet was unknown at the time and the label 'Romii' is a reduction of 'Romulus II' or 'Romii' is a nearby Romulan colony and not directly linked to Remus."
This paragraph should be deleted as it is completely mistaken in regards to canon and original inspiration. As mentioned by the earlier commenter, note of the homage to romulus and remus should be mentioned. --Snikch13 07:45, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
