Remission is the first full-length album by Mastodon, released in 2002 on Relapse Records.
A deluxe edition of the album contained a DVD with nine live tracks, and a bonus track on the CD.
The album's cover art was inspired by a dream that Brann Dailor experienced.[1]
The sound at the beginning of "Crusher Destroyer" is the roar of the Tyrannosaurus Rex from the film Jurassic Park. The song "Crusher Destroyer" was featured on the soundtrack to Tony Hawk's Underground.
While not being a concept album, Guitarist Bill Kelliher considers this album to represent the fire element.[2]
