Remi August Balduck was born 30 March 1918 in Detroit, Michigan. Balduck enlisted in the United States Marine Corps 4 September 1940. Corporal Balduck was killed in action 9 November 1942 while leading the repulse of a Japanese frontal attack against American positions on Guadalcanal. For his actions he was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross.

In 1944, the high-speed transport USS Balduck (APD-132) was named in his honor.
