On April 5, 2006, Kerrang! Magazine released a special CD called Remastered: Metallica's Master of Puppets Revisited. This was in honour of the 20 year anniversary of the release of Master of Puppets by San Franciscan thrash quartet Metallica. This was a historical album in the genre of metal, and the last Metallica album to feature bassist Cliff Burton. This cover album is dedicated to Cliff Burton, as stated in the disc cover.

This tribute is made up of eight cover songs by some of the biggest names in the current Metal/Rock scene. Each band was given a song to cover.

Many Metallica fans have showed dissaproval over the choice of bands to cover the classic album. Where as bands such as Machine Head and Mastodon have been met with approval, other bands such as Funeral For A Friend and Fightstar have been criticised as just being there because they're popular and will sell more issues rather than them being inspired by Metallica.
