Regions of Guyana

Guyana is divided into 10 administrative regions (listed here in alphabetical order):
- Barima-Waini (Region 1)
- Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region 7)
- Demerara-Mahaica (Region 4)
- East Berbice-Corentyne (Region 6)
- Essequibo Islands-West Demerara (Region 3)
- Mahaica-Berbice (Region 5)
- Pomeroon-Supenaam (Region 2)
- Potaro-Siparuni (Region 8)
- Upper Demerara-Berbice (Region 10)
- Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo (Region 9)
Each Region is administered by a Regional Democratic Council (RDC) which is headed by a Chairman. In addition there are a number of Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDC) within each Region. These operate at the local or village council level.
