The Regional Science High School for Region 1 (RSHS) is a public secondary school located at Ma. Cristina East, Bangar, La Union, Philippines. It was established during the school year 1994-1995 by virtue of DECS Order No. 69,s.1993,it is the regional science high school for Ilocos Region. RSHS-1 is a science high school which is operated and supervised by the Department of Education.
RSHS is a center and spring board for excellence in science and mathematics oriented education with competent graduates who shall contribute to the country's progress and development. It provides quality science and mathematics education for all students to enhance their scientific knowledge, skills and values towards the advancement of the country.

Admission to the RSHS is a three-step screening given to all qualified elementary students. To be eligible for admission, applicants must be Filipino students who must belong to the top 10% of the graduating class or must have special aptitude in science and math.The screening includes two screening examinations and one interview.
[edit] Curriculum
The school offers a high school curriculum that is focused on science, technology, and mathematics. Computer science subjects are offered to all year levels. Research is given during the second, third and fourth year levels. Earth Science is studied during the first year, while biology is tackled during second and third years. Physics is taken up during the third and fourth years. Chemistry is studied during the third and fourth years. Algebra, geometry,trigonometry, calculus with analytic geometry are studied during the first, second, third, and fourth years, respectively.Statistics is studied during the second year as part of the second-year research course and as a separate course during third year and fourth year. As part of requirements for third and fourth-year research courses, students have to produce research papers and project proposals, which they have the option to submit to local science fairs.

Regional Science High School for Region 1 maintains to be one of the top high schools in the National Secondary Assessment Test (NSAT) and National Achievement Test (NAT).

- RSHS for Region 1 ranked number 43 and 29 in the year 2000 and 2001 NSAT respectively. RSHS for Region 1 first joined the NSAT in 2000.
- RSHS for Region 1 is the only high school that maintained to be on the top ten in NAT. It ranked number 10 in the 2004 NAT and ranked overall second the following year.

Regional Science High School for Region1 is an achiever on both national and international competitions.

Since it's creation in 1994 RSHS for Region had consistently winning awards in the national feat.Among them are the following:

- Philippine Super Quiz bee Science
- DAMATHS Olympiad
- National School Press Conference

Though it's still young, Regional Science High School for Region 1 had represented the country several times in some international competitions particularly in the field of research.
Among the international competitions it attended are the following:
- Delegate to the SEAMEO Search for Young Scientists, Penang, Malaysia-July 5-9, 1999
- Delegate to the 53rd Intel International Science & Engineering Fair, Kentucky, USA – May 12-18, 2002
- Delegate to the Future Creation Fair, JIII, Tokyo, Japan-August 26-31, 2004
