Region Nordjylland (English: Region North Jutland) is a future administrative region created under the Danish Municipal Reform, which replaces the traditional counties ("amter") with five larger regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities will be merged into larger units, cutting the number of municipalities from 271 to 98. The reform will be implemented in Denmark on 1 January 2007.
The new Region Nordjylland will consist of the current county of Nordjylland combined with parts of the county of Viborg (the current municipalities of Aalestrup, Hanstholm, Morsø, Sydthy, and Thisted), and the western half of Mariager municipality (in Århus County).
