Reginald Allen, 1st Baron Allen of Hurtwood

Reginald Clifford Allen, BA 1st and last Baron Allen of Hurtwood, known as Clifford Allen (9 May 1889 - 3 March 1939) was a British politician.
The son of Walter Allen, he was Secretary and General Manager of the Daily Citizen between 1911 and 1915. He was Chairman of the No Conscription Fellowship, and was imprisoned for conscientious objection three times.
He married Marjory Gill on 17 December 1921. They had one child.
He held the office of Treasurer and Chairman of the Independent Labour Party between 1922 and 1926. He was Chairman of The New Leader between 1922 and 1926 and director of the Daily Herald between 1925 and 1930.
He was created 1st Baron Allen of Hurtwood, Surrey on 18 January 1932.
