Talk:Refuge (race)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Okay, now I'll try to sort out the current PROD. Drow Town Team is a group of enthusiasts, just like any other team or whatever that makes mods for games — the only difference is that they make the advanced mods for StarCraft, HoMM etc., but we make a new race for an existing game (BTW, a fan-made add-on). Where exactly do you see advertising? The copyright notice? Then tell me, why we've still got that strange advertisement at the very bottom of this page? Refuge is (or actually is going to be since it's not yet released) completely free, but that doesn't mean it'll be put in the Public Domain. Chortos-2 20:43, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Whether it is free or not is beyond the point. Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Pascal.Tesson 20:45, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Where do you think I've got a style other than 'objective and unbiased'? Just show me the exact point and I'll fix it. Or do you think I've got some other mistakes? Then show me, don't just say 'that is bad'! Chortos-2 20:51, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
P.S. The messages you have found using Google are not advertisments but pure information accepted by the board owners. And why do you think a Wikipedia article's title must not have any other hits in Google? P.P.S. I'm going to sleep now. See you tomorrow... ;) P.P.P.S. I have just re-read the article and I have still noticed no advertising. Neither 'Refuge is a new race' nor 'Refuge inhabitants are Kobolds and more' contain such kind of information.
I suppose you object to advertisement because you don't stand to gain money from those messages. However they are promotional in nature. Wikipedia is not a forum for you to tell the world about your game mod. The content is utterly unverifiable and the article at the present time will never be built on reliable sources. Let's first remove all the contents of Category:Computer game mods and Category:Computer and video game remakes and then proceed with 'Wikipedia is not a forum for you to tell the world about your game mod', okay? The article is built on the official information from the team: http://forum.df2.ru/index.php?showforum=44. It is said in WP:RS that it is possible to use sources written in non-English languages, and I can quote the original text if you wish (though it is just the translation of the creature names).
- You write about what is bad in the article. Possibly you could better write how to improve it?
I don't mind the fact that it's in Russian. I'm worried about the fact that it's not independent of its subject. Wikipedia articles should rely on reliable secondary sources. Moreover, since you are clearly involved in this project, there is a strong concern of vanity. As for the other article on game mods, I can't say much as I don't know them well. It's absolutely possible that some of these articles are just inappropriate as yours but Wikipedia is not perfect and the existence of inappropriate pages is not an excuse for keeping even more. You might also want to take a look for instance at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Forgotten Hope, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Homefront (game mod), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/US Intervention (game mod), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/HaloGen (game mod), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eve of Destruction (game mod), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/G.I. Joe (game mod) and I promise there's many more where that came from. Pascal.Tesson 21:57, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
