Reflections in a Golden Eye is a 1941 novel by Carson McCullers that deals with the theme of repressed homosexuality.
It is a tale of six central characters, their failures, obsessions and darkest desires. Set in a military camp, it tells the story of Major Weldon Penderton and his nymphomaniac wife Leonora. Other central characters are Lieutenant Colonel Morris Langdon and his sick wife Alison, the Langdon's houseboy Anacleto and a mysterious soldier; Private Williams.
In 1967 it was adapted to film and directed by John Huston. The film starred Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, and Julie Harris.
