Redirects are very useful on Wikipedia. One can get spelling variants to one page, or use one page for several related subjects. However, the latter use also implies risks: That way a subject will link to somewhere that is not exactly the same, and one may be less intent to create a new page on it. For this kind of case, this page is intended. It lists redirect pages, that on itself are reasonable redirects, but that might be 'broken open' on some later date. You may want to add the redirect to.

If you want to write an article on a subject that is currently a redirect, click on the redirect, and you will find '(redirect from <title>)' on the page, with <title> a link. Clicking this link will give you the redirect page and enable you to edit it.

Please note that this is not a list of redirects that ought to be broken up, but only one of redirects that could be broken up. Many of these would better be left untouched, while others would indeed gain from being made into separate articles.

This page should be maintained by removing pages which are no longer redirects.

The following group of redirects pertains to internetworking and computer network engineering, redirects to a specific and common Request for Comments (RFC) Wikipage which lists same. These formal engineering peer review documents are a series of memoranda encompassing new research, innovations, and methodologies applicable to Internet technologies.

  • These do not refer to the Wikipedia Request for Comment process, and only share the acronym. The international engineering serial numbers are guaranteed unique and non-repetative and should be understood as article titles a user may search for. The last item is the article common to this whole list, and provides links for users to procede further in their attempt to gain more information on RFC WXYZ.
