No problem. For whatever reason, RFA voting has gotten vicious lately. "Don't you dare oppose my best friend, or I'll block you!" I can see it coming. ;-) Continue to fight the good fight and give that freedom of speech a good workout. Take care.

[edit] Please unblock me
Hi I am new to Wikipedia and somehow got myself blocked as a vandal, IDK.
One contribution I did make today is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:ISO_3166-2:ES.
I later corrected a spelling mistake Région (fr) to Región (es) but it hasn't appeared.
Can you help?
TIA, Chris Dent

[edit] VFD assistance
Hi, Redwolf. I was wondering if I could get your opinion on this VFD: Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/US Government Simulator (it's a small government simulation game that claims to have been the first developed). As of right now, the whole thing is a mess (sock puppets, personal attacks, you-name-it-we-got-it). I personally voted merge but changed it to delete after some of the recent (and somewhat violent) comments by that site's users. What do you think? (You don't have to vote; I just want to get someone else's opinion on it). Thanks, Jaxl | talk 19:40, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- Update: Actually, it seems to be going pretty well now. It looks like the article is going to be deleted. You can still look at it if you want, but I think it's alright now. Jaxl | talk 23:59, 18 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Question
Hello will you please help me out by helping me advertise a screenplay, http://www.scriptbuddy.com/community/?p=4291528833&t=&pg= , I'm really trying to get people to read it, and I'm just asking that you just put the link up on your userpage, so someone'll click on it and read it, then rate it, because my friend really needs it to be rated, so he knows what to do with it. I'm trying to be a good friend so I'm helping him out, so I'm asking you to help me. Also I used to be User:Wikipedia Username if you didn't know. The Fäcist Chicken 03:01, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

If I EVER gave you the impression that I didn't like you, or made you think that I didn't approve of your edits, or if you got the impression from me that I considered your administrative actions improper, I apologize absolutely. I highly value your imput, your contributions and respect your opinion in every instance. [edit] 3RR and copyright violations
As I did on the noticeboard 2 days ago, I am asking for a precedent that an edit dealing with multiple subjects, both inserting and deleting text, is considered a revert for purposes of the 3RR rule simply because it involves the deletion of some pre-existing text. As I pointed out there, it does not meet the definition of revert stated in the 3RR guideline. I believe you are letting your subjective opinion of me cloud your judgment on the applicable guidelines. And I am still awaiting your explanation of why you believe the insertion of two screens worth of copyrighted text, without an acknowledgment of the direct quotation, cannot fairly be viewed as a copyright violation. When I worked as a teaching assistant (both at the undergraduate and graduate levels), such an uncredited appropriation of text would have been treated as plagiarism resulting in both a failing grade on the written project involved and the initiation of an academic disciplinary review. The level of personal abuse that's been directed at me for pointing out a clear breach of applicable Wikipedia guidelines is ridiculous, and an admin should certainly not engage in it.Monicasdude 17:02, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- You never pointed out what section of the article was copyvio'd. How are we supposed to figure out it was a copyvio if you don't show us how? Sorry for my mean remarks. Toothpaste is a great editor and I guess I was annoyed you accused her of a copyvio. Its also possible someone else who worked on the article had one it. I'm sorry, Redwolf24 22:39, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
-
- I noted the specific sections on the article's talk page. The copyvio guidelines are pretty explicit: "blank the page and replace the text" with the copyvio template. There's no procedure to replace individual sections, as there is for individual images. Monicasdude 20:29, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] VfD
Trawling my way through today's watchlist, among the apparently hundreds of VfDs you closed, I was wondering about Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/A. F. Gotch. You called a no-consensus. Why was that? My raw count is 7d-3k, but discounting Dottoreso, I'd get 6d-3k, though of course there's the discussion to go with the votes. -Splash 22:16, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- Ah! Sorry I didn't notice the vote of Tupsharru. I mistook it for a comment. I'll tell him to make his vote more clear and delete that article. Redwolf24 22:28, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks. Yeah, I missed that vote the first time through, too. -Splash 22:39, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
Btw, I noticed you stopped using subst: with your {{vt}} and {{vb}}. It save the server load quite a bit to have those templates subst'd in because of the number of times they're used. -Splash 23:54, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- Yes yes I know about the server and templates. I've been copying and pasting {{subst:vt}} '''Delete'''. ~~~~ on pages but I've been typing {{vb}} as I'm feeling rather lazy... Redwolf24 23:57, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- I see you already have a monobook.js, as well as the rollback button of course. But if you filter through my monobook.js I've written a pair of functions that give you buttons for closing VfD debates and dropping a message on the article's talk page. I didn't write myself a delete button, but you can see how to do one easy enough. -Splash 00:05, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
- That sounds interesting, maybe I'll try it sometime. However I'm a javascript dumbass and it seems when I copy sections of Java they don't work unless I take the whole script. :-/ Redwolf24 00:08, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] folk metal
Folk metal is a specific genre of music, including bands like finntroll and Ensiferum. I like these groups, but I tend to use the word in a broader fashion, including all sorts of music that combines the two elements, from Jethro tull to Irish traditional/hardcore fusion bands like the pogues or Dropkick Murphys, as well as a number of other groups (brathanki comes to mind). Also, I tend to like all sorts of music called "folk", "ethnic", or "traditional", particularly old time bluegrass, as well as all sorts of metal (I've been hearing alot of manowar and yngwie malmstein lately). I listen to plenty of other music too, I try to find at least one band per genre that I can appreciate in some way. The hardest for me so far has been pop, but I do like Abba alot, if they count... Let me know if your ever in the mood to discuss types of music or trade band recommendations, its a favorite subject of mine :)

If you look at the history of WP:KATE, it was user:Flcelloguy who assumed Kate was male, not me. Besides, how do you know he/she really is a girl anyway? Maybe it's because I'm from asia, so initially I thought Kate was a japanese name, ie pronounced "kah-tay". Borisblue 00:46, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

A reminder: As per Wikipedia:Deletion process, when you delete articles on VFD, always paste the link to the VFD discussion in the "Reason for deletion" box. I've been reading Wikipedia articles for a long time now. It was only recently that I found it was fun to edit articles too, so many thanks for the welcome.
I still need to read most of the style rules and editing tutorials, but they are more interesting (to me, at least) than your average Joe Random writer. I'm already a member of the FreeBSD documentation team, so writing quality material is I might say a hobby of mine.

- Ah, trollish to the end I see. No actually, I did not put it up on VfD, [2] cleary shows it was User:AgricuIture, a sockpuppet someone, perhaps you or one of your friends, created to discredit me. Check the IP's, I have no affiliation with that sockpuppet. But you already know that don't you. Do you really wonder why I doubt both your abilities to stay neutral, or to be a responsible admin? - Sorry for the accusation of sockpuppetry, but being an admin you have a responsibility to fully check your facts before spreading rumors. I accuse you of irresponsibility if not bad faith. I'll withdraw my accusation of your bad faith, I'm sure you're a decent person. I just don't believe you are capable of being NPOV, or responsible with your privelages as an administrator. As an admin people listen to what you say. By debasing other users without checking your facts you abuse your privelage. If I were sticking around I would initiate an RfC against you because of it. Frankly though I don't care. As for leaving, yes I've edited a few more times because I wanted to wrap up/clear up a few last things last this particular incident. If our conversation is now over, I assure you, you will never see me again. Gone or not though, I would advise you to both take your position more seriously and be more responsible. - I agree! You better come back or I may just have to take back my vote! -- MicahMN | μ 02:51, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Leaving is not good
Right about when I was going to ask you to welcome a fresh contributor I noticed, you're gone. This sucks a bit. -- Keramida 06:26, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- aww. I'm back now. Redwolf24 22:52, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Vandalism
User:LucaviX vandalized my user page...I asked him to cease and desist but thought it best to also let some administrators know about it. Just FYI. Thanks. KHM03 09:28, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- That vandalism wasn't particularly vandalism IMO. He just made some comments and even signed them. Feel free to warn him on his talk page not to edit your user page and if he does it again then complain. Redwolf24 22:48, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Slippery Jack
Hi Redwolf! Since the Slippery Jack article was merged with the Toad Patrol article, I have undeleted it and made a redirect. GFDL requires history to be kept so that the author(s) are attributed. BTW, thanks for cleaning out the August 16 VFD listing. Sjakkalle (Check!) 14:16, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- Yes I know of the GFDL and I know it said merge but I didn't merge anything as the section was big enough. If someone else merged before me than yes, I shouldn't have deleted it. Anyways I really appreciate the thanks :) Redwolf24 22:47, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome back!
It is so good to see that you have returned to the Wikifold. You should know that your friends and supporters are far more numerous than you think. Welcome home! EdwinHJ | Talk 23:45, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- Haha here was my message to them: "Yeah I was pissed when I typed up that goodbye note but then I realized... My friends outnumber my vandals :)" Thanks for the welcome Edwin :D Redwolf24 23:46, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] A Question
I'm asking permission to remove your welcome message from my talk page. Its not meant as a personal attack. Just its been there for a month.
--WikiY 23:51, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- Most users keep their welcomes there to show how long they've been around, regardless if they know everything about wikipedia. If someone sees a welcome dated in July they're not gonna think you're a newbie. However if you want to remove it feel free..... Redwolf24 23:54, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
I don't need another welcome. I'll keep it there.
