[edit] History
During the Spring of 1977, the a cappella community at Yale was saturated with a great many single-gendered groups, each of whom presented the same kind of sound. Shelly Lotter and Leslie Lipton wanted to break down the self-imposed barrier which had limited Yale a cappella to one gender or the other, envisioning a group in which the best voices of each chromosome set could sing together in the kind of sophisticated harmony that could only come from a coeducational group of the finest singers at Yale. They formed Redhot & Blue and the group has thrived since then, winning numerous awards for excellence within the college a cappella scene.
