Redback Networks was founded in August, 1996. It went public on May 17, 1999. Its stock is traded on NASDAQ under the symbol RBAK.

Redback's major products include SMS (Subscribers Management System), SmartEdge Service Gateway, SmartEdge Router, NetOp Policy Manager, and NetOp Element Manager.

  • SMS – platform solution for provisioning, aggregating and managing broadband subscribers and services through a single, unified platform.
  • Multi-Service Edge Router (formerly SmartEdge Service Gateway) – solution providing fully integrated broadband subscriber management, services aggregation and carrier-class edge routing; integrating the power of the SmartEdge Router system with the capabilities of the SMS family.
