User:Rebecca/The 10 Random Pages Test

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In September 2004, as part of a discussion on Wikipedia's current preparedness for distribution, someone mentioned that they had hit Special:Randompage ten times, and that the pages they had come up with showed that much work still needed to be done until that time. So I repeated myself, and the results were pretty bad - nearly all were terrible. I always had in mind to go back and fix them up myself, but never did. Anyway, I came back and looked over them in January 2006, and found that all but about two were much improved.

Now, eighteen months or so on, I'm repeating the exercise.

  1. Fremont County, Iowa - basically straight Rambot material
  2. Heptarchy - shortish and not brilliantly written, but quite tolerable
  3. Natel - erm, what?!?
  4. Deliriant, incomprehensibly technical, cleanup tagged for a month
  5. NBL (Australia) Three point % - possibly the worst "article" I've ever seen
  6. Stinker Pinker - rotten three-line stub
  7. Notre-Dame de Montréal Basilica - lovely, gorgeous pictures
  8. Subadditive function - completely incomprehensible to someone who didn't know what it was to begin with
  9. Reed Green Coliseum - two line substub
  10. Pitot-static system - two line substub

So, with eight of these needing work, I'll keep an eye on them, and perhaps try to fix some of the easier ones myself. If you happen to stumble across this, feel free to join in.

[edit] the original ten

  1. G K Vasan (aaaahhh!)
  2. About Face (clearly needs work)
  3. Split Series, Vol. 3 (tolerable, barely)
  4. Roscoe, Illinois (straight RamBot stub)
  5. Kalmar Union (excellent - the exception)
  6. Egvad (makes RamBot look good)
  7. Saint Aignan de Cramesnil (also makes RamBot look good)
  8. St. Nicholas' Collegiate Church (quite good)
  9. Saint Joseph's College, Indiana (garden variety short stub)
  10. Q96 (a touch off a speedy deletion candidate)
