[edit] Naughty Pterri
Pee-Wee builds a house made of 52-deck playing cards and he slowly and steadily places the last one. He slowly walks back away and Pterri exclaims from his nest "Look out below!" Pee-Wee shouts "No! Don't do it, Pterri!" Pterri comes flying down and crashes into the card house, scattering the cards all over the place. Pee-Wee scolds Pterri not to play Acapulco cliff-diver inside the playhouse and orders Pterri to pick up each all 52 cards. After a cartoon, Pterri is caught red-handed drinking water from the fish tank. Pterri explains that he was thirsty, but his waterdish was empty. Then Pee-Wee explains that you're supposed to ask someone get some and then punishes Pterri by sending him to his nest. Pterri groans and Pee-Wee yells "Go on, Pterri! Now!" Everyone screams to the secret word.
[edit] Pterri the Runaway
After Pterri is sentenced to his nest, the Picturephone rings and it was Mrs. Rene on the line giving How-Are-You calls to all her friends and family and tells about her day. While Pee-Wee's talking with Mrs. Rene, the camera cuts to Pterri all upset and Randy comes along and tells him not to stick around where he's not wanted and decides to run away. After Mrs. Rene hangs up on Pee-Wee, he comes out of the Picturephone and remarks "Mrs. Rene has 'Telephonitis!'". Pee-Wee grabs the ball and calls for Pterri, but Pterri doesn't respond. Pee-Wee goes over to his nest and finds a note saying "Dear Pee-Wee, Nobody likes me and so I'm going away. Pterri." Pee-Wee exclaims sadly that "Pterri has run away from home!"
[edit] Pterri Returns
Pee-Wee wonders why Pterri runs away and asks Mr. Window, Clockey and the Ants if they had seen Pterri and they all reply that they all haven't. Magic Screen explained that she failed to refill Pterri's water dish and claims that it was her fault. Then Globey explains that he wasn't very nice to Pterri. Chairry confesses the same thing, causing guilt. Pee-Wee agrees with everyone and wishes that Pterri would come back, but Jambi doesn't respond. Pee-Wee calls for Jambi, but Jambi refuses the wish because he already granted Pee-Wee one wish and explains that he can't wish his problems away. Then Pee-Wee is holding a picture of Pterri and mourns Pterri's disappearance. As Pee-Wee cries his eyes out, the camera cuts to close up of Pee-Wee's left shoulder and Pterri's wing taps Pee-Wee on the shoulder. Pee-Wee sadly says "Please, Pterri, not now." Everyone screams. And then Pee-Wee realizes that Pterri has returned. Pterri explains that he actually hid under Pee-Wee's bed 'cause he felt unwanted. Pee-Wee explains that you should not run away from problems and delivers the same explanation to the viewers.
[edit] Trivia
- From Season 3 onward, John Paragon (Jambi) resumes the role of Pterri (whom he voiced in Season 1, but not in Season 2).
- There is a slight difference in this season's appearance in the Playhouse, usually the colors. These colors would be used in the following two seasons. Prime examples of these color differences include the fireplace being dark gray instead of light gray and the shard-covered wall at the far end of the playhouse being blue instead of yellow.
- The "Oki" that Pee-wee writes to in this episode may be the same one that shows up at the Playhouse in Accidental Playhouse.
- The copyright date at the end incorrectly reads as 1989.
- After the first couple of times that this episode aired on CBS, it stopped showing the part at the very beginning, the "My Name Is..." song, for reasons unknown. It just skipped to the scene showing Ricardo entering the Playhouse to find out the day's secret word. The 1996 VHS release and Fox Family airings of this episode reinstated the scene. However, the segment was again dropped on the 2004 DVD release and Adult Swim airings. Ironically, an identical scene in Something To Do was left untouched on DVD and Adult Swim.
