[edit] Image missing mandatory information

I see you recently uploaded Image:Annabellethesheep.JPG. However, you forgot to add the mandatory detailed fair-use rationale required by the license. Without that, we cannot assume that the use of this copyrighted image is permissible and we will have to remove it after one week. Thanks. --Yamla 17:09, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Yamla. I'm a newbie here and I don't know what have I done wrong. Can you help me? Please edit the image's info how it's got to be just this time. I'd be really pleased if you do that. Thanks, Joanna

Please see the license text on Image:Annabellethesheep.JPG. It provides links to information on how to write a detailed fair-use rationale. I can't write it for you. However, you may want to check out, for example, Image:Knightley - Johansson - Vanity Fair.jpg which contains a detailed fair-use rationale. Note that you must hand-write your rationale, you cannot simply copy and paste it from another image. Thanks. --Yamla 17:16, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
I created such section, but the "The assertion that the use of this image qualifies...." text did not disappear. I don't know what am I doing wrong.Joanna
It did now.  :) I removed it because you added the section. Generally, fair-use rationales are a little longer but this is a fairly straight-forward case. You are using a screenshot to depict the subject of the article. You aren't limiting Real Networks' ability to make a profit. Everything is good. Thanks for your time, happy editing! --Yamla 17:42, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Realplayer.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Realplayer.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

  • OK, give me just a second
  • I did not created the picture. It was created by another user, but I just edited it to be transparent.

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Annabellethesheep.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Annabellethesheep.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. feydey 10:39, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Editing suggestion

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. And welcome to Wikipedia! Shell babelfish 17:42, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked

Your username has been blocked indefinitely because it is trademarked (see our blocking and username policies for more information). You are encouraged to create a new account and contribute to Wikipedia under a more appropriate username, and in a constructive manner. Wikipedia:Username provides guidance on selecting an appropriate username. You may also edit Wikipedia without creating an account. You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia under an inappropriate username. If you would like to discuss the block, you may edit your talk page or email the administrator who blocked you.

Due to Wikipedia's mechanism for enforcing name changes, your IP address may be temporarily blocked. Unless you have also been engaging in vandalism or impersonation of another user, we will remove that block as soon as possible — if this doesn't happen within an hour or so, please email an administrator and explain the situation (see the list of administrators).

If you want to keep the contributions from your old account for your new username, please follow these directions: (1) Add {{unblock-un|new username}} to your user talk page. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page. (2) Soon, an admin may come to unblock you. (3) You will have 24 hours after the unblock to file a request on Wikipedia:Changing username before you may be re-blocked. Note that this can only be done before you create the new one. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username. In many cases (especially if your account has few or no edits), it is a lot easier to create a new account.

{unblock-un|Joannna}

Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing. You were blocked by Netsnipe for the following reason (see our blocking policy): Trademarked username are prohibited per Wikipedia:Username

Your IP address is xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I've unblocked you; you have 24 hours to create your new username. After that, I'll block this one again. Mangojuicetalk 12:54, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

I've created it. Now i can login. Please block the account without the IP.

I reblocked this account. I can't, unfortunately, block a username without blocking the underlying IP. So you might end up getting autoblocked under your new account. If this happens, just request unblocking there and it'll all work out. Mangojuicetalk 20:31, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
