Realth Chalmers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Realth Chalmers (5 May 1770 - 4 May 1838) was a Welsh anthropologist and explorer. He is most noted for his essays and journals on the folklore of eastern Russia, Mongolia and northern China[1]. Chalmers insisted on writing his papers in Welsh, contrary to the custom of the time, which is thought to have significantly hindered his career, and in turn may well have contributed to his suicide, by hanging, on the eve of his sixty-eighth birthday. His journals are available at some sites of the University of Wales, in the historical reference library.
