Reality Check Records, Inc. is a United States hip hop/rap record label. Its name is derived from the company's focus of bringing real music to the music industry, preferably in the hip hop & rap genres, with positive lyrics and images. Reality Check Records, Inc., an independent record label, was formed in January of 2006. It was co-founded in Chicago by Chris Thurston, Jeremy Kennebrew, and Jonathan Raspberry.

Reality Check Records, Inc. was formed after a 2005 New Year’s Eve performance by the label’s initial artists Sean Billz & Midnight (rapper). The label was created with the intent of being independent and not following the traditions established by many major record labels in the music industry. It was also started with the motive of giving the world a reality check by presenting “real” music with a “real” message and purpose in positive lyrics and images.

With the executive area of the label being run by the three co-founders, the artistic side was being fulfilled by the label’s two initial signed recording artist and sole music producer. The two recording artists included Sean Billz and Midnight and the producer was Sean B.

The label’s first feature music project was that of their debut mixtape Without Warning: Official Reality Check Records Mixtape, Chapter One. There were two new artist additions to the label prior to the release of the mixtape. These two artists were rapper Young Ché and the label’s first vocalist Charice. The mixtape was officially independently released on May 23, 2006. The fifteen-track mixtape consisted of a variety of new and unreleased material from Reality Check Records, Inc. Some of the featured songs can be traced back to recording sessions from 2004 in the label’s early days. Among these 15 tracks were the three featured singles “Throw Ya Cross Up”, “Time Is Now”, “Against All Odds” as well as gems such as “In Memory Of…”, “Life’s Course”, and “Think (Thoughts In Reflection)”. The track “In Memory Of…” featuring Sean Billz & Young Ché, which is a dedication to those passed away including fallen rap legends Big L and The Notorious B.I.G., stands as one of the mixtape’s premier tracks and the debut of Young Ché. The project featured Reality Check Records, Inc. recording artists (minus Charice) and sole producer with no guest appearances. It also features Eazy (Intro & Outro), who currently serves as the label’s A&R Executive, and DJ Joe III, who then held the title as the label’s only official DJ.

With the success of their debut mixtape, the label went on to further expand their name across the public with other project releases during the production of their second mixtape. One of the label’s established DJs, DJ Triple Threat, began his DJ mix series which was titled Check Up!!!: The Mixtape Composition. There were five volumes planned for release in this series. To date two have been released and the next two are scheduled for release on September 1, 2006 and October 6, 2006. The label is currently wrapping up production on its 2nd mixtape, Realize Reality: Official Reality Check Records Mixtape, Chapter Two. This mixtape is scheduled to be released on August 25, 2006. This eighteen-track mixtape features all the Reality Check Records, Inc. recording artists with no guest appearances. This mixtape features songs which were recorded at Family Biz Entertainment, Inc. studios and production work done by sound engineers Black Vegah & Garcia. Some hot songs from an advance listening session include “Inaugural Address”, “Motivation Muzik”, “When I Die”, and “All I Need”.
