Shoot from the Hip (2003) |
Read My Lips is the first solo album released by pop singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Released on August 27, 2001 by Polydor. The title was presumed to be based on a quote by U.S. president George H. W. Bush from his 1992 campaign in which he said he wouldn't raise taxes; actually, it's simply based on a line from the song "The Universe Is You". It sold about 800,000 copies in the UK (according to [1]), and over 1.5 million worldwide.

The album was re-released for the second batch of singles, and included three new tracks ("Music Gets The Best of Me", "Get Over You", and "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)" - Live Version).
