React (record label)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

React was established in 1990 as an English electronic dance music record label based in Putney, London.

The React label grew as club culture and specifically acid house/trance music became increasingly popular through the early 1990s. React grew into one of the longest-running independent dance labels in the U.K.. While not noted for the signing of individual artists, the label did use noted DJs on its mixed releases. These included Blu Peter, John '00' Fleming and Carl Cox. In later years, the label had creditors owing in excess of £1,000,000. The majority of this debt was owed by the Beechwood Music group of companies. Beechwood went into voluntary administration in June of 2004. This led to the label being itself forced into voluntary administration on 16th June 2004.

A new company - Resist Music - was established by React's James Horrocks and Melissa Kemp. Resist owns the rights to the back catalogue of React.
