Raziuddin Siddiqui

Dr. Raziuddin Siddiqui (1908-1998) was an eminent scientist, scholar and an educationist of Pakistan. He had been the vice chancellor of four Pakistani universities and the first VC of Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad.

Raziuddin was born on January 8, 1908 in Hyderabad Deccan, India.
He was one of the first students who joined Osmania University after passing Rashidia Exams in 1918. Completed matriculation from Osmania University in 1921 and earned B.A. with distinction. He was awarded a scholarship from the government of Hyderabad and went to England for higher eduction. Did M.A (Mathematics) from Cambridge University in 1928. Then he went to Berlin University, Germany for PhD where Albert Einstein was teaching at that time. He completed his PhD under supervision of renowned scholar Prof. Hense Berg in 1930. He did his Post Doc. from Paris, France.
After returning to homeland, he joined Osmania University, Hyderabad Deccan as Associate Professor. Allama Iqbal requested him to write down a book on the Theory of Relativity but Iqbal had died at that time, when he completed the book. Maulvi Abdul Haq published this title from Anjuman Taraqqi-i-Urdu Delhi.
He was also served as Vice Chancellor of Osmania University during 1948-49. Later he migrated to Pakistan along with a majority of the Siddiqui family and joined Anjuman-e-Tarraqia Urdu, Karachi. He joined Sindh University as VC. He was also the VC of Peshawar University. He was the first VC of Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad from 1964 to 1972. He passed away on January 2, 1998 in Islamababd.
Amongst his noted relations is his daughter, Shirin Tahir-Kheli, who is the Special Assistant to the President of the United States of America, and Senior Director for Democracy, Human Rights and International Operations
