From Murray's History of the BSA was able to get more accurate info on the positions he held. Since he would have been forced to retire around age 65, I am going to assume he retired from the BSA around 1952 and held his positions until that time. Wish we knew when he passed away. --Emb021 14:16, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Death: Los Angeles, California, I think.

After working my way through ancestry.com I found a ray wyland that they gave some free information on from the California Death Records. I went to http://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/gen/ca/_vitals/cadeygen.htm , then to Begin Search . I entered Wyland, Ray and 1890 for birth year. What I got was *almost* an exact Match. The Data given were as follows: Name Wyland Ray O Birth 1890 4 14 Mother's Name Howard Sex Male BP (Birth Place, I think) KA County of Death Los Angeles Death 1969 10 26 SS_Number 100266266 Age 79

Comments: The Birth day is off by *1 day* from the other information we have. KA was commonly used as an abbreviation for Kansas, the official two letter abbrevations from the USPS didn't come until the 1970s. His Social Security Number starts with 100, which means it was issued for someone living or working in the State of NY (which BSA HQ was).

Can we verify his mother's last name? Naraht 17:23, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Also, in the Los Angeles Times Archives, although you have to pay to see the exact text for archives, I was able to glean some information. There is a Obituary on October 30, 1969 which a search for Ray Wyland Boy Scouts America came up with...
Still not *totally* concrete, but is it good enough? Naraht 17:25, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Verified with Obituary from the LA Times. (Text sent from LA city Library) Data added to page.
