Ray Eberle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ray Eberle was a vocalist during the Big Band Era. Eberle sang with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and later became one of the members of the group The Modernaires. He was born in upstate New York in 1919, and was also the brother of another famous Big Band singer, Bob Eberly, who sang with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. Eberly was kicked out of the Glenn Miller Orchestra after he had disrupted the band with his drinking problem. Glenn Miller ran a tight ship, he usually fired people after the first incident. Miller tried to give Eberly a second chance, because he was the lead male singer. He was replaced by Skip Nelson. Some of his best songs with the band were "Stairway to The Stars" and "Wishing". He helped create the Glenn Miller sound and also influence the big-band singing world, because of the Band's Popularity.
