Ray Austin (boxer)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ray Austin (born on Oct 31, 1970 in Cleveland, OH) is a professional boxer. Nicknamed "The Rainman", Ray is currently ranked highly in the rankings of several major boxing organizations and is positioning himself for a title shot. Many have felt that he is undeserved of his ranking, largely due to his ties with promoter Don King. Regardless, Ray has not lost a fight since a 2001 loss by TKO to Attila Levin. Ray has drawn with other notable heavyweights Lance Whitaker, Larry Donald, and most recently Sultan Ibragimov.
Ray is a large, clumsy heavyweight with little power, but generated some fanfare from his spirited draw with Ibragimov in an eliminator bout to challenge for Wladimir Klitschko for the IBF belt. Ray is also known for his TKO victory over Jo el Scott, the final professional bout for Scott.
Many feel that he might be the next to challenge for Klitschko's title [1].
Austin also competed Cedric Kushner's Thunderbox Heavyweight Tournament, "Fistful of Dollars", but lost.
