Ray, Arizona

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ray, Arizona is a town that no longer exists. There was once a huge copper mine there, but it grew so big that all the people in the town had to move. The town of Kearny, Arizona was founded by the Kennecott Mining Company in 1954 as a planned community to accommodate the populations of Ray, Barcelona and Sonora, which were about to be enveloped by Kennecott's copper mine. Relocation to Kearny began in 1954.

The Copper Basin Railway runs through the town.
