Talk:RAV-FM
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hello, my name is Rob Basile. This was brought to my attention from students and upon further review I was able to determine that some of the posts from 209.221.74 were created by a colleague. I am one of RAV-FM’s founder and former station manager, the other founder is Erik Hueglin who was the head of the Technological Studies Department when the Station was created. I (Rob Basile)am a teacher in York Region (Middlefield Collegiate Institute), a radio broadcast technician with Toronto’s CHIN Radio, an audio producer, and (hip-hop) DJ. All of which is verifiable and not necessarily required for public consumption :)
I am no longer at Vaughan Secondary School. The other founder, Erik Hueglin is also no longer at Vaughan Secondary school. We are aware of the dead link to www.ravfm.com. It seems that they have not renewed their domain name.
I am by no stretch of the imagination a “Creative Genius” or “Amazing” By the way; my surname does not have an accent on the “e”.
Thank you…

[edit] To the anon editor
Would you kindly explain what the point is of your repeated edits?
It is a requirement of Wikipedia that articles link to other articles. You do not have the right to remove [[square brackets]] from around words in the article. And you do not have the right to remove an article from the categories it's filed in unless they're wrong.
As well, Wikipedia articles cannot refer to a person as a "creative genius" or to the station as "amazing"; those are biased assertions. Wikipedia has to stick to objective and verifiable facts. And, incidentally, ravfm.com is currently a dead link that brings up an ISP registrar's pseudo-search engine. So even that has to be taken off the article now.
And finally, you use the discussion page to talk about matters relating to the article; you are not to insert personal notes to other Wikipedia editors in the article itself (except as hidden comments if necessary.)
Despite your note about "this is truth from the source", the dispute isn't about facts; you haven't changed any of the cited facts at all. All you've done is remove the wikilinks, the categories and the text formatting over and over again, even though Wikipedia policy requires that those be present. So my question remains: why do you insist on doing that? Bearcat 02:42, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Hey Editor, get your facts straight
RAVFM.ca is not owned by the station/school. it is not our homepage. RAV never did own it. RAVFM.com used to be owned by the station, but the domain name lapsed. It is no longer owned by RAV.
We don't have a website at this moment, we are in the process of getting one.
The Grade 12 Communications Tech Class no longer has any involvement in the station. It is run by the RAV FM club. Very Poorly, I might add.
Yeah unfortunatly they dont let students pick the music because they think they are a real radio station instead of something run by studnts for students. And the only students that listen to the station are the ones who run it or are friends of those who run it. It makes no sense to convert it into a station that resembles a professional one, especially when all the students mock the station in its new format just as much as they did in the old one. If anyone from Vaughan is reading this: Let the DJs play what they want to play - this is suppossed to be fun, not a lame station that only plays music for 12 year old girls. Avenged Evanfold 06:35, 28 November 2006 (UTC) PS radio is lame anyways what with filesharing programs.
[edit] Station Range
1) As far east as Yonge Street (depending how far south you are, again. If you are north of the school, you begin to lose the signal around Bathurst. My ghetto-blaster couldn't pick it up at Steeles and New Westminister)
2) As far south as Eglinton in good weather conditions. Sheppard in poor weather.
3) As far west as Highway 400/Jane St./Weston Road (depending how far south you get)
4) As far north as - well.... we really don't get far at all, at that point it depends on your equipment.
My ghetto-blaster radio doesn't pick up RAV at Centre Street, my Volvo picks it up until Highway 7, and my Honda picks it up until Rutherford.
