Ravnsborg

Ravnsborg is a municipality (Danish, kommune) on the northwest coast of the island of Lolland in Storstrøm County in south Denmark. The municipality, including the islands of Fejø and Femø, covers an area of 198 km², and has a total population of 5,569 (2005). Its mayor is Stig Vestergård, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Horslunde.
Neighboring municipalities are Nakskov, Højreby, and Maribo to the south. To the north is the "Small Land's Straits" (Smålandsfarvandet) and Rågø Sound (Rågø Sund). To the west is the Langelands Belt (Langelandsbælt), which runs between the islands of Lolland and Langeland.
Ferry service connects the municipality to Langeland from a harbour west of the town of Sandby, and to the islands of Fejø and Femø from the town of Kragenæs.
By January 1, 2007 Ravnsborg municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Holeby, Højreby, Maribo, Nakskov, Rudbjerg and Rødby municipalities to form the new Lolland municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 892 km² and a total population of 49,469 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Sjælland ("Zealand Region").
