Ravi Nair is the Executive Director of the South Asian Human Rights Documentation Centre (SAHRDC), based in Delhi, India.

He has played a key role in regional human rights advocacy by non-government organizations in the Asia Pacific for some decades. He has an extensive background in activism, including being held in detention for one year for protesting in relation to human rights in India, and in December 1993 he was arrested for breaking the Indian government's ban against the celebration of United Nations Human Rights Day. He was one of four members of the Asia Pacific Facilitating Team that were chosen by NGOs to represent them at regional negotiations, and, more recently, has convened the Asia Pacific Human Rights Network. He has decades of experience in representation at regional and international forums, including the UN, and can provide practical examples of people's diplomacy used in successful advocacy campaigns in which he has been involved. He also serves on numerous human rights bodies, including the executive committee of the Geneva-based International Service for Human Rights, and is a member of the International Editorial Board of Human Rights Tribune in Ottawa, Canada.

Nair received the 1997 M.A.Thomas National Human Rights Award from the Vigil India Movement.
