Ratnavarma Heggade

From 1955 to 1968, Shri Ratnavarma Heggade wore the laurel as The Heggade. He is credited as being responsible for the golden era in the history of the Kshetra. Ranavarma Heggade's vision was achieved in to progress as well.

He transformed the village Dharmasthala to a modern township, developing the land and buildings; beautiful edifices that abound with hospitality and solace. He established an education trust, to establish educational institutions.

Ratnavarma Heggade initiated plans to erect a statue of Shri Bahubali similar to ones at Venoor, Karkala and Shravanabelagola. With this initiation, a new chapter was started in the history of Dharmasthala. His son Veerendra Heggade took over the project and completed the Bahubali statue project.
