[edit] Ratchet & Clank
Ratchet is a mechanic on the backwater planet Veldin. He dreams of leaving his planet and setting off on an adventure. He works on a home-made starship, although he knows there is no hope of it working without a robotic ignition system, which he does not have. Ratchet finds Clank, who recently crashlanded on Ratchet's planet. Clank helps him set off into the stars, after they make a deal. Ratchet will help Clank get to Captain Qwark to help save the galaxy from Chairman Drek. Partway through the game, he grows vengeful after Captain Qwark betrays him. After achieving his only personal vengeance, Ratchet stops Drek when the villain attempts to destroy Veldin.
[edit] Going Commando
Ratchet is summoned to a new galaxy and trained as a commando for a retrieval mission related in the story. He has matured a lot more since the first game, but is still rather gullible. Even after all the telltale signs he believes 'Abercrombie Fizzwidget' is still to be trusted. He is also still nervous around women, especially the lombax Angela Cross.
[edit] Up Your Arsenal
Ratchet hastily flies back to the Solana Galaxy to help defend his homeworld of Veldin, where he is mistaken for the Galactic Rangers' sergeant, and quickly pulled into the story. Captain Qwark often places Ratchet in the more dangerous scenarios in his plans(albeit partly out of revenge) and Ratchet never receives any credit for accomplishing them. To most people who don't know him in the third game, he is remembered as Secret Agent Clank's chauffeur. Ratchet also falls in love with the Starship Phoenix's Captain Sasha, who is also the daughter of the Galactic President.
[edit] Deadlocked (aka Gladiator)
Ratchet is now the new captain of the Starship Phoenix from UYA due to Sasha being the new mayor of Metropolis, but is kidnapped alongside Clank and Al by the Vox Empire. They are then attached with Deadlock Collars, designed to self-destruct on Gleeman Vox's command, and Ratchet is given a Combat Suit and two Combat Bots named Merc and Green (taken from a fallen contestant). Clank is now Ratchet's Mission Engineer while Al is his Technology Engineer.
Throughout the game Ratchet is continually slandered by Dreadzone Announcer/"News" Reporters Dallas and Juanita, who depict him as a malicious villain who has little to no moral decency (this is Vox's way of building Ratchet's "Bad-Boy Image"). However they change their attitudes towards him in the end of the game, when Vox tries to blow up the Battledome, locking Dallas, Juanita and the fans of the show with their own Deadlock Collars and their fate in Ratchet's hands.
