to make something a lnk put [[ and ]] around it. If it is red there is no page of the name, blue means there is a page, but you didnt look at it through the link, or at all. If it is purple you have seen it.
also hit remember me on the log in page, but log out first. Be sure to change your preferences!
to make a topic put == == around the topic name. TALK TO ME ABOUT SUB-TOPICS IF YOU NEED HELP!
Do not use the tab key. Also for the beginning of a paragraph dont put a number of spaces before the start of it. Asterick turns up like this:
A new paragraph should be two enter/return's undre the one before.

Welcome, and a warning
Salutations! Randfan, welcome to Wikipedia. I see you've been pretty busy already. Just a warning... While there is a lot of stuff in Wikipedia, the editors here try to keep it under control by placing limits on the things that can be added here. I see you've been adding a lot of stuff related to The Wheel of Time. While it looks like the book series is quite notable, some of the details from that series may not be. If you haven't already, I suggest that you read the policies of wikipedia, in particular, what Wikipedia is not. Perhaps some of the articles you are creating should stay in wot.wikia.com? Just a friendly warning... I'd hate to see your hard work go to waste. Rawr 01:02, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Hey dont know if it was ab accident or not :-S but my page is colorful now , its kinda cool, i reckon ill keep it :-) (Neostinker 16:36, 13 October 2006 (UTC))
Chicken/Egg
Which do you think cae first the chicken or the egg? Why?
Pro-Chicken
The Chicken because an egg would not be able to survive by itself. Eggs need to be warmed by a parent, and when hatched they need something to take care of it, show it how to survive. - Mit kebes T 13:33, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- however, this does not state whether or not the chicken/egg came first. This is just the care-taking of an egg. Randfan 18:04, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
How would you abruptly get a chicken egg? Even by evolutionary standards, you don't just wait a long time and suddenly find a single chicken egg. How would it possibly mate without another of its kind? bibliomaniac15 03:32, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- A pre-chicken bird would still mate with its own kind- it just had a slight mutation that developed over time into our chicken. The genetic materials would be compadable with each other because obviously the evolution is an adaptation for the better so eventually all/most pre-chickens would have it. Randfan 17:40, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Chicken. But the egg could have poofed into existance... No, I'll stick with chicken.--SUIT42 03:34, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Pro-Egg
I'm pro-egg because the genetic material doesn'tchange from egg to its older form. Therefore the first chicken as we know it would have come from an egg (some pre-chicken bird layed the egg with a mutation in it that later turned into the our chicken). Randfan 00:32, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm pro-egg, but the real question is how do you define a chicken? The egg would have come first, but the point at which the egg contains what we call a chicken (instead of, I guess a lizard or dinosaur) would be hard to define.--Kyoko 14:40, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- for now I'll call it:
-
Gallus gallus, a domestic fowl bred for flesh or eggs; believed to have been developed from the red jungle fowl.Randfan 18:05, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm pro-egg. How could a chicken come into being without an egg? Eggs were also around long before chickens.Hemhem20X6 15:29, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- How can you be pro-anything if you don't know why which came first in your mind? For us "eggers" the egg cae from some long dead species of bird or lizard. For the "clux", you'll have to just ask them... Randfan 21:11, 23 October 2006 (UTC) P.S. the nicknames could be better....
- Silly question. Of course, the egg came first. It's what's for breakfast. Chicken is for lunch. Jcam 22:14, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Eggs predate chickens. Dinosaurs laid eggs. There were no chickens during the age of dinosaurs (indeed, chickens are descended from egg-laying dinosaurs). Ergo, eggs came first. --Jayron32 05:32, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Indesicive or otherwise
-
-
- The egg of a Red Junglefowl - I think the "chicken or the egg" thing refers to a chicken egg. Would you count that as the chicken (since it's not a chicken egg) or the egg (since it's still an egg)? --Friendly Porpoise 11:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Mole
Happy mole day everyone! ('specially "eggers" 'cause they're my group)
Sowhich came first the mole or the egg? Randfan 21:19, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- The egg, silly! Avogadro came much much later. Let's see how many people understand! Rather of an inside joke. --Kyoko 14:25, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

- This is an explanation of the whole mole day thing, for those of you who don't get it:
-
-
-
- I'm not talking about mole (animal), mole (sauce), or mole (skin marking). I was thinking about mole (unit), which is used in chemistry.
-
-
-
- Have you ever looked at the Periodic table of elements? You'll see that for every element in the detailed version of it, they list its atomic mass. For example, hydrogen (H) has an atomic mass of 1.00794 (let's round that to 1), oxygen has an atomic mass of 15.9994 (let's round that to 16). That means that for water, which is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, you have 1 + 1 + 16 = 18 as its molecular mass.
-
-
-
- There's this number called Avogadro's number, which is approximately 6.022 x 1023. The 1023 part means that it's 10 multiplied by 10, 23 times, a huge number. This is equivalent to 602200000000000000000. Anyway, somehow scientists figured out that if you get 6.022 x 1023 atoms of an element together, the whole bunch will have a collective mass of whatever their atomic mass is, expressed in grams. This would be one mole of the element. So one mole of hydrogen would have a mass of approximately 1 gram, one mole of oxygen would have a mass of about 16 grams, and so on. This works with chemical compounds too, so one mole of pure water or H2O would have a mass of roughly 18 grams.
-
-
-
- Mole Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated by chemists in North America, on October 23, between 6:02 AM and 6:02 PM, making the date 6:02 10/23 in the American style of writing dates. The time and date are derived from Avogadro's number, which is approximately 6.02×1023.

Are you a fan of The Wheel of Time series?
Hi there, I looked at your username, then I looked again, then it occurred to me that you might be familiar with this fantasy novel series. If you're not, then you likely have no clue what I'm talking about. --Kyoko 16:03, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- I enjoy the series, partly because I like catching the cultural allusions, and partly because it's fun trying to figure out exactly who did what and stuff. I do find that after book 4, Jordan's writing gets less and less concise. Combining this with the fact that I feel compelled to start rereading the series from the beginning whenever I get back into WoT, I've only gotten up to (not including) book seven. That was a few years ago, and I don't currently want to spend the next several months catching up. So, yeah, I'm a fan, but not a diehard one. I wonder how many other people will understand your name. --Kyoko 21:05, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- No, I haven't read New Spring. Does reading it spoil anything in the series (besides TWoT)? Depending on how quickly you read, maybe the final book will come out by the time you get there! --Kyoko 21:21, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
your signature
Hi there, don't worry about your question, I've only been here since the end of January and I'm still figuring things out. Your signature looks fine on my computer. Have you tried clearing your browser cache? Not knowing what computer you use, I don't know exactly how your setup will do that. I run Mac OS X and Mozilla Firefox, so I can clear my cache by holding down the shift key while clicking on "Reload". And Sally Ride would make a good answer for "Salya". Maybe the question was meant as a combination of the two. Hope this helps. --Kyoko 21:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Are you saying that my suggestion worked, then? --Kyoko 21:37, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Glad to hear that it works! I hope you don't mind that I just swapped the generic listing of my name on your page, for my signature. You may or may not be able to see the different font (Zapfino font). I'll have to look up where you can see a sample. It's somewhere on the Linotype Foundry page. Another thing: if you put a link to a page when you're already on it (as in User talk:Randfan), all you do is make a boldface link that's non-clickable. You're already on the target page, so there's nowhere else to go. You might want to fix your own name in your list of Wikifriends, or not. Thank you for considering me your friend, and yes, the feeling is mutual! --Kyoko 22:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

WoT questions and answers
Hi there, you've got questions, I've got answers. You write:
- Did Lenn really fly to the moon in the belly of an eagle made of fire?
- John Glenn didn't fly to the moon, but he did orbit around the earth.
- Did he truly have a daughter named Salya who walked among the stars?
- In a manner of speaking, the Salyut space stations were among the stars.
- Was Asbet really the queen of all?
- Elizabeth I was queen of a vast British Empire.
- Did the giants, Mosk and Merk, really fight with spears of fire?
Was this quiz a way to see if anybody had read TWOT? --Kyoko 00:28, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- You really never thought that these questions were supposed to be hints that the world of TWOT was supposed to be after some sort of future apocalypse? Or before one, given the cyclical nature of time in the books? These questions seemed obvious to me the first time I read the series. That's what I meant about liking the books because of how they make different cultural and historical references. It's been too long since I last read them for me to know if these quotes were taken word for word or not. --Kyoko 04:43, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

ajahs template
Please don't add that template to Wikipedia articles; we don't actually have "X Ajah" articles here, most if not all of them redirect to the Concepts in the Wheel of Time series article. I encourage you to revert those edits and tag the template with {{db-author}}. It's of use on WoT Wiki, but here it's just overkill, I think. -- nae'blis 22:56, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, like I said, it doesn't add much because all of those links go to the same article through redirects. I'd like to hear any other ideas you've got on "spicing up" the article stubs we've got, but I'm not sure this template is the way to go. -- nae'blis 23:03, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- If you prefer, we could compromise by removing the current usages, and then discussing it somewhere like Talk:The Wheel of Time to get more people's opinions. Remember I'm not an admin here... -- nae'blis 23:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

a science lesson about moles
Hi there, this will take some explaining, and it's nothing personal. I had assumed that you knew what a mole was based on what you had posted in the coffee lounge. I'm not talking about mole (animal), mole (sauce), or mole (skin marking). I was thinking about mole (unit), which is used in chemistry. Riana should have recognised the joke instantly as a chemistry major.
Have you ever looked at the Periodic table of elements? You'll see that for every element in the detailed version of it, they list its atomic mass. For example, hydrogen (H) has an atomic mass of 1.00794 (let's round that to 1), oxygen has an atomic mass of 15.9994 (let's round that to 16). That means that for water, which is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, you have 1 + 1 + 16 = 18 as its molecular mass.
There's this number called Avogadro's number, which is approximately 6.022 x 1023. The 1023 part means that it's 10 multiplied by 10, 23 times, a huge number.
Mole Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated by chemists in North America, on October 23, between 6:02 AM and 6:02 PM, making the date 6:02 10/23 in the American style of writing dates. The time and date are derived from Avogadro's number, which is approximately 6.02×1023.
And so you have your (rather lengthy) explanation.--Kyoko 02:36, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- It's no problem, explaining all this. I didn't know how much of a science background you had, so when you asked about Mole Day, I thought I had better explain everything. Have a good day! --Kyoko 16:38, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

I have tagged this article as copyvio from www.hp-lexicon.org/help/lexicon.html. Can you verify that, please? Thanks. -- ReyBrujo 20:25, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, much better. If you don't add a category to the article (because you don't know where it would fit), tag the article with {{uncategorized}} as {{uncategorized|October 2006}}. If it needs wikification, use {{wikify}} with a similar structure as the previous one. And add the source you used to build the article in a References section (if you learned about Flitterbloom in hp-lexicon.org, include a link to there so that people can verify the information you have added to the article. Good luck! -- ReyBrujo 20:48, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Nop, I am not. According to the deletion log, the second time it was tagged as {{db-a7}}, and deleted because Tawker (talk • contribs) considered it should be deleted. I suggest you to contact him and ask why the article was deleted. Since I know nothing about Harry Potter, I am not sure whether this topic fits Wikipedia, or should be included in another more generic article (like a List of Harry Potter items or similar). -- ReyBrujo 22:08, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

TOC
I realize that you may like the way that your table of contents displays, but please don't go around putting it everywhere else. If you'd like to change the standard TOC, please discuss that at the Village Pump. --Daniel Olsen 01:19, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Novels WikiProject
Hi, and welcome to the Novels WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to fiction books often referred to as "Novels".
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watch it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WikiProject_Novels_announcements}} there.
While you are updating your userpage, don't forget our userbox {{User WikiProject Novels}}. - The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but other methods are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines / template outlines some things to include.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the members, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:33, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Rook novels
be aware I have broken out the Rook novels in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/ArticlesNeeded list. and set the article names for the series and the individual articles to avoid preexisting articles with those titles. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 17:26, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
