I am curious about fair use when it comes to movie posters and book covers. I see them all over your website, although with this image I uploaded, it says it is not licensed for the website. Is there an easier explanation as to why? Thank you so much. Here is the image in question. Image:Waroftheroses2.jpg
- Hey, Randall! The problem with that image is that it is "orphaned," that is, not used in any articles. Because of copyright reasons, we only allow "fair use" images in areas of the website where they illustrate a work. If they are not used in that way, or just sit there unused, they will be deleted in seven days. Just use the image in an article and you should be all set! —BorgHunter

[edit] Regarding your contributions
Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. I notice that you have claimed to be acting on behalf of the copyright owners of the text you have contributed. Even if this is true (which I assume it is), all text in Wikipedia, excepting small amounts of fair use, is licensed under the GFDL, as specified whenever you edit a page. In short, unless the copyright holders have explicitly licensed their text under the GFDL, the text is inadmissible here. Cheers! Deltabeignet 22:07, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Categories
Hi Randall & welcome. Thanks for the Warren Adler entries, and please place them in Category:Mystery novels rather than Category:Books, which is really the parent category for various genres of books. Thanks - Her Pegship 05:32, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
