Why is it necessary to mention his "race" - the other pages for his fellow-contestants do not describe them as white or African-American or whatever. I looked for a policy but didn't find - would appreciate being pointed in the right direction if one exists.

I just checked Randal's website ... and according to his bio, he was born in Philly. I just added his birthplace now. Amchow78 22:28, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Randal is from New Jersey, but I forget which city. Regarding his race, Randal has been a leading advocate for minority involvement in the IT sector for many years, both on his own and through organizations like CTCNet.org; it's probably addressing it in the context of his work and activism. -Acarvin 17 Dec 2005

Not only that, but he was also featured in EBONY and Black Enterprise magazines, and I believe he is also a winner of Engineer of the Year from an ethnic-based group. In his case, a reference to his race is relevant. -- Jalabi99 03:39, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
