Randy McKay (trader)

Randy McKay is a commodities and futures trader, profiled in the book The New Market Wizards by Jack D. Schwager. In 1970 he parlayed an initial 2000 USD into 70,000 in his first calendar year and in just 2 years turned it into 1 million.

Randy was raised in a seminary because he wanted to be a priest. After just two years in college of which Randy failed six classes, he was drafted by the Marines to serve in an artillery unit in the Vietnam War. When he returned from the war, he studied clinical psychology.

An avid Bridge player after returning from a tour of duty in Vietnam Randy began his trading career witch marked the start of currency trading in the US as well. His brother got him a summer job at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, he liked the pits and started trading his own account.
