Randolph M. Nesse

Professor Randolph M. Nesse, M.D. (b. 1948) is an American evolutionary biologist.

Nesse is a professor of psychology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a professor of psychiatry at the University of Michigan Medical School. He is also the Director of the Evolution & Human Adaptation Program at University of Michigan.

He research focuses on evolutionary psychology and Darwinian medicine, as well as the evolutionary origins of emotions and how natural selection shapes the capacity for mood.
