Rana is a genus of frogs. Species include the Common Frog, and the Marsh Frog. Members of this genus can be found on all continents except Antarctica.

These true frogs are characterized by their slim waists and smooth skin. They are excellent jumpers due to their long slender legs. The typical webbing found on their hind feet allows for easy movement through water.

Most frogs in this genus breed in early spring, with the male initiating with his unique call. Females lay eggs in rafts and can produce up to 20,000 at one time.
