Ramy Ashour

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ramy Ashour (born September 30, 1987, in Cairo Egypt) is an internationally renowned Egyptian squash player. Ashour won his first major international title in 2004, when he became the youngest player to ever win the Men's World Junior Squash Championship at just 16 years old. He also led Egypt to a second-place finish in the team event in 2004, losing to Pakistan in the final. In July 2006, he became the first player in history to win the World Junior Championships twice. This feat is special because the event is biannually, and most players who win the event are either 17 or 18 years old at their time of victory, and players are only eligible for junior competition until their 19th birthday, which means a player must be 16 or younger at the time of their first victory to have a chance to win it again.

He is currently ranked #9 in the world.
