Rama Satria Claproth, (born May 29, 1983, Bandung, Indonesia) is a well known Indonesian blues guitarist. Rama is arguably the only few blues guitarist in Indonesia. His late mother was Spanish, and his father is German-Indonesian. He began playing guitar at age 10, figuring out Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Albert King licks from his record collection. At age 14, he formed a band called Jaque Mate with his two younger brothers Arya and Joshua. During the years he was obsessed with the blues and took blues lessons from whom he was taught by now father-in-law Indonesian blues guitar legend Alpha de Fretes. Apart from his band, Jaque Mate, Rama is also an endorser and a clinician for Fender Musical Instruments in Indonesia.

[edit] Music Experiences
In 1998, at age 15 he recorded his first record Tabasco Woman with his two younger brothers. Tabasco Woman sold 50,000 copies which include songs "Ode to Jimi" (a tribute song for Jimi Hendrix) and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" (written by Jimi Hendrix). During the years Rama, with his two younger brothers, played in many smokey bars, on TV shows, in concert arenas, etc. Practicing his skills for many hours and skipping a lot of classes at school affected his grades.
His classmates would bring their school bags and notebooks with them to school, but it was not for Rama. He mentioned that his guitar was his school and it made most of his teachers punish him by sending him outside of the class and stand below the hot sun. The punishments Rama received from his teachers didn't bother him at all, because his guitar was always with him. Luckily he did graduate from high school in 2001. In October 2005, Rama was invited to play at the Stevie Ray Vaughan Remembrance Ride and Concert along with Texas prodigy blues guitarist, Wes Jeans. To play in Texas was Rama's ultimate dream. He learned from his idols and had the opportunity to play with Texas local guitarists like Lance Lopez, Wes Jeans, Chris Duarte, Johnny Winter, guitar legend Les Paul, and blues legend B.B. King.
