Ralph Knowles

Ralph Knowles (b. 1945, Huntsville, Alabama) is a major class action attorney, best known for winning the Dow Corning breast implant case with damages of $4+ billion.

He earned a BA at University of Alabama in 1966 and JD at the University of Alabama Law School in 1969. He has worked as an attorney with the Atlanta law firm of Doffermyre Shields Canfield Knowles & Devine since 1991. Before this employment he was a long time partner with Drake, Knowles & Pierce in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Mr. Knowles currently serves on the Board of Directors of Legal Momentum (formerly the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund). He also has served on the National Board of Directors of the American Civil Liberties Union.

His wife, former New Yorker, Marjorie Fine Knowles, was a Professor at the College of Law, Georgia State University, and Dean of the College from 1986-1991. She is also a member of Board of Trustees of the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA).
