Ralph Ferrucci

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ralph Ferrucci was the Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate in Connecticut. Ferrucci ran for the seat currently occupied by Joe Lieberman, which Lieberman was reelected to in the 2006 election. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1972 and currently works as an independent truck driver, delivering cookies since 1991. In 2003, Ferrucci ran against John DeStefano for mayor of New Haven under the "Guilty Party" banner, in what he saw as a one-party election. He went on to receive 15% of the vote. In 2004, he was state coordinator, ballot access coordinator and media advisor for the Ralph Nader presidential campaign in Connecticut. Ferrucci is a member of a local Food Not Bombs chapter which feeds the homeless every Sunday in his hometown of New Haven.

Ferrucci believes in many of the same principles that the Connecticut Green Party stresses such as opposition to the Patriot Act, ending the war in Iraq, gay and lesbian rights, a women's right to choose, and a single payer healthcare system.

[edit] Opinion on Israel-Hizbollah conflict

On July 31, Ferrucci published an essay on his campaign site, criticizing Ned Lamont's support for what Ferrucci sees as Israeli aggression. Ferrucci questioned Israel's actions by asking why England never once bombed Ireland for the IRA's actions. Ferrucci is currently the only one of the Connecticut senate candidates that has voiced his disapproval over Israel's actions.
