[edit] Just what is Rajasuya ?

Great. Mention of a custom, and even a stubby article, that says it was a "sacrifice" (and presumably religious in nature), and who performed it, and that it was rarer than some other custom, but that does not tell what it consisted of at all... Is there an expert who could tell just what is the "sacrifice" of Rajasuya, and what happens at the ceremony? What is the special point of collecting tribute for it? and what happens to the collected riches? Are they destroyed or spent in a show of power and munificence? Or is Rajasuya the very fact of conquering neighboring kingdoms and establishing oneself as emperor? --Svartalf 09:43, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
