Rajiv Rai

Rajiv Rai (born in 1955 in Mumbai, India) is a Indian film director. He is the son of producer Gulshan Rai.
He has directed several Hindi blockbuster films in the action genre: Yudh (1985), Tridev (1989), Vishwatma (1992), Mohra (1994), and Gupt (1997).
His films are also notable for their music composed by Viju Shah. Their use of popular songs such as Tirch Topi Wale in Tridev helped his films become hugely successful.
He married actress Sonam, whom he had directed in Tridev and Vishwatma in the 1990s. In 1997, he had to leave India for the UK after nearly being killed by gangsters believed to be working for the Mumbai organized crime leader Abu Salem. After a few years of hiatus from the Bollywood industry, he returned to directing with his comeback ventures Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohbabbat (2001) and Asambhav (2004), both of which failed at the box office.
