[edit] Biography tff the Official Web Site

I started this article. Since Rain Fell Within is a bit of an obscure band, finding detailed information on them can be difficult. Their official web site is down and the Internet Way Back Machine is unreliable so I am going to repost their biography I got off this Wayback page just in case it's unaccessable in the future to anyone who wants to add to this page.

Rain Fell Within - Biography The Early Days...

The birth of Rain Fell Within came in October of 1996. The five original members (Dawn, Kevin, Charles, William, John) formed a band with a unique blend of Metal and New Age. Within weeks, they had developed an emotional sound, rich with symphonic melodies. They continued over months of perseverance and created a collection of unique songs under their original band name, "In Medias Res". In 1997, they self produced a four track demo entitled, "Rain Fell Within-Live '97." Dissatisfied with this recording, Rain Fell Within entered Sterling Productions in March of 1998 and recorded the "Solemn Days" demo. With the release of their demo, the band gained worldwide attention and began to perform on local venues. They played with the local rising acts such as: Garden of Shadows, Arise from Thorns/Brave, Hatred, Morbius, Dying Fetus, Forty Days Longing, and even Projekt's Black Tape for a Blue Girl and Voltaire. Somewhere Near The Middle...

Rain Fell Within began to rigorously write new songs while juggling the task of negotiating offers to sign record contracts. Tension rose over the direction of the band and William and John (AKA Sardonius) resigned in November of 1998. Dawn, Kevin, and Charles continued writing and percussionist Tim (Psycophancy) joined that December. Having a new member drove a transitional period that was already in motion and Rain Fell Within created a new sound. In early 1999, they were invited to open for the Gathering on their first US tour. Jason Ian-Vaughn Eckert (Aurora Borealis/As the Sea Parts) filled in as a second guitarist for this show. It Started In The Studio, Then Grew And Grew...

In June of 1999, the four members of Rain Fell Within entered Night Sky Studio to record their first full length CD, "Believe". The recording was produced by Ron Vento (Aurora Borealis/Night Sky Studios) and Jason Ian-Vaughn Eckert. In September of 1999, Rain Fell Within completed their line-up when guitarist Owen Davis (Garden Of Shadows/Forty Days Longing) joined the band. Later that month, Rain Fell Within signed a record contract with Dark Symphonies. They released "Believe" in January of 2000 and it has sold over 7000 copies since. In support of their new found success, Rain Fell Within performed through out that year at some of the largest Metal festivals in the nation, including the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, the New Jersey Metal Meltdown, and the Milwaukee Metalfest where they opened for Anathema. New Songs Bring More Changes...

While supporting "Believe", Rain Fell Within began writing for their second Dark Symphonies release. Once again, having a new member brought new depths to their music. Rain Fell Within took another step in the movement of their ever progressing sound. However, as history repeats itself, Owen resigned from Rain Fell Within in January of 2001 to pursue his IT career. The remaining four members continued writing their new album. They brought in Erik Sayenga (Dying Fetus/Witchunt) as Owen's fill in for live performances. This was short lived due to his departure for a tour with Dying Fetus. Soon after, the band brought in two new members: Laurie as their backing vocalist, and Jason to complete their guitar duo. The new Rain Fell Within members performed live at the 2001 Milwaukee Metalfest. The Near Future...

Rain Fell Within will be in the studio from late September to the middle of October 2001. Laurie and Jason will be performing on a couple of songs on the new CD. It will be released through Dark Symphonies and hopefully out this winter. Line-up History
