Rainlendar is an application that displays a calendar on the desktop. It also can maintain events and a to-do list. It is popular because it uses few system resources when running, and supports "skins" or GUI changes. Because of the ability to be skinned, it has become a mainstay on many shell replacement themes (such as Litestep and Aston). The name Rainlendar is a combination of 'Rainy' and calendar.

Features:

  1. Small and lightweight
  2. Different type events can have different appearance
  3. Supports Windows transparency
  4. Synchronizes events between several clients
  5. Localized for multiple languages
  6. Shows an alarm when an event is due
  7. Supports iCal files.
  8. Shows Outlook's appointments
  9. Includes a todo-list
  10. Works also as Litestep plugin
  11. Displays the current date in tray icon
  12. Can stick to the desktop (i.e. doesn't hide with Show Desktop)
  13. Hotkeys for quick access
  14. Easy skinning with an UI
  15. Can be controlled from 3rd party applications with !bangs

Despite all these features, Rainlendar does not support reading from WebDav directories on remote servers. Doing so requires the fetch and upload of the .ics file every time it is synced.
